Economic lifestyle
I interviewed my dad Greg Pearlman, who is a lieutenant at the highlands county sheriff office. He has been involved with law enforcement for 25 years and counting. He said that the pay starts out average and will increase with time. My degree will benefit in my salary as promotion time comes. The only down fall with law enforcement is the government pay cuts and low staff of officers due to the pay cut. He said "you gotta love what you due because the pay isn't worth a bullet". A good benefit is retirement after 20 years with the state and 25 with the county. The health benefits are good and it is a way to serve your country with out going to war. He said a way to be succesful on in this career is to get a degree and graduate high in the academy. The degree will come in to hand in landing a job with a agency and will benifit when ask for a promotion. The higher rank you are the more money you can make and with a degree the sky is the limits. He said "that most departments are in desperite need of good lifetime officers who want to protect and serve"
